The annual Wreaths Across America event honoring our nation’s fallen soldiers will take place this Saturday, December 17, a press release on PR Newswire states.
Each year, thousands of volunteers gather at Arlington National Cemetery and other veteran gravesites to lay handmade balsam wreaths on the headstones of our protectors.
The journey began on December 10 when the caravan of trucks carrying the wreaths disembarked from Maine. It will stop in states throughout the northeast at schools and memorials to share the organization’s mission: REMEMBER, HONOR, and TEACH.
“The Escort to Arlington is one small, symbolic piece of the entire Wreaths Across America package of Remember, Honor, Teach. I am truly honored to be part of such a wonderful opportunity,” said Grand Marshall Candy Martin, 2-16 president of the American Gold Star Mothers. “As we travel down the countryside from Maine to Arlington National Cemetery, I once again look forward to connecting with people from the community, hearing their stories of love and loss, and saying the names of their local heroes.”
If you would like to donate a wreath, you may do so until December 14. Please visit www.wreathsacrossamerica.org for more information.
